WMYSA regattas give beginning sailors the chance to explore racing while providing more experienced sailors an opportunity to build their sailing talent in a higher skill environment than they may find at their home club. Because the WMYSA seeks to be a bridge to other, often bigger or higher profile sailing opportunities that are provided by groups such as Class Associations, regional and Interscholastic sailing authorities and US Sailing, it also works carefully to align its efforts so that they feed or build upon (and don’t unnecessarily duplicate) what these other organizations are doing to serve youth sailors.

The following Junior Sailing Programs are members of the West Michigan Youth Sailing Association. Each serves their local geographic area and collectively they represent a broad range of demographics and community program offerings. One of the greatest benefits of the WMYSA is that the leaders and staff from all of its member programs actively share information and experience across the WMYSA. This ongoing collaboration is an excellent example of “a rising tide lifts all boats”. As such, the WMYSA actively works to coordinate instructor training, improve safety, enthusiastically promote other youth sailing opportunities, and support and align its efforts with other youth sailing organizations.

Click the following links to contact or learn more about each member program:

Grand Rapids Junior Sailing Association

Gull Lake Junior Sailing

Macatawa Bay Junior Sailing

Muskegon Yacht Club Junior Program

Saugatuck Yacht Club Sailing Program

South Haven Sailing Program

Spring Lake Junior Sailing Association

St Joseph Junior Foundation

White Lake Sailing School

Diamond Lake Yacht Club

Paw Paw Lake Yacht Club

Eagle Lake Sailing Club

Click HERE to follow the WMYSA on Facebook

The West Michigan Youth Sailing Association started as a grass roots effort in 2006 to provide young sailors a transitional bridge to larger, more advanced youth sailing events. It’s primary focus is to promote the love of sailing to youth, and to provide a support network for Western Michigan youth sailing programs.
