High school sailing is an excellent opportunity for teenage sailors to engage in the sport beyond their local yacht club or junior sailing program. For the past few years, the Midwest and Michigan in particular has been the fastest growing region in the nation for high school sailing!
While the WMYSA does not play a direct role in high school sailing, our member programs encourage and, in some cases, directly support high school sailing teams.
In an effort to help promote high school sailing, the WMYSA conducts a high school style regatta for high school and middle school age sailors from WMYSA member clubs. This event is hosted by the St Joseph Junior Foundation and typically takes place in June. More information about this event can be found under the “Summer Racing” tab on this web site.
