Other Racing Opportunities

In addition to WMYSA events, below is a list of other opportunities for West Michigan youth sailors to engage in the sport. If you don’t see a link for more info, try searching the Regatta Network, Yacht Scoring, ClubSpot or US Sailing web pages. Facebook is also a good place to search for Class Associations, yacht clubs, sailing programs or specific regattas.

2024 EVENTS (more events will be added as dates are announced)

  • The 2023 Orange Bowl Regatta will take place at Coral Reef Yacht Club in Miami, FL on December 26-30, 2023.
  • Chicago Junior Race Week will take place on July 1-2, 2024. Hosted by Chicago Yacht Club. Club 420, ILCA 4, ILCA 6, ILCA 7, Optimist RWB, Optimist Green. Click HERE for more information.
  • The Butterfly Nationals will take place July 16-18, 2024 at Glen Lake YC. More info can be found HERE.
  • The Geneva Lake Sailing School in Lake Geneva WI will host its GLSS Dinghy Fest on July 8-12, 2024. Separate fleets for Optimist Green, Optimist RWB, Melges 14, Melges 15, X-Boat. For more info, click HERE.
  • South Shore Yacht Club in Milwaukee will host its annual Kaszube Cup Regatta on July 9-10, 2024. Optis, ILCA Lasers and Club 420s. Click HERE for more info. This event will also serve as the LMSRF Youth Championship.
  • The USODA Optimist Nationals will take place July 23-30, 2024 in Sandusky OH. Click HERE for more information.
  • The 2024 ILCA Laser Great Lakes Championships will take place at Chicago Corinthian Yacht Club on July 27-28, 2024. ILCA 4, ILCA 6, ILCA 7. Click HERE for more information.
  • The 2024 West Michigan Yachting Association “Westerns” will take place at White Lake Yacht Club in Whitehall, MI on Aug 1-4, 2024. Optimists, Butterflies, Lasers and nearly all models of Scow. Click HERE for more info.
  • Racine Yacht Club is conducting its Andrea T. Regatta on Friday, Aug 2, 2024. Optimist Green, Optimist RWB, ILCA Lasers, Club 420. More information can be found by clicking HERE.
  • The CORK International Optimist Regatta will take place in Kingston, Ontario, Canada on August 1-4, 2024. Click HERE for more information.
  • The CORK International Olympic Classes Regatta will take place in Kingston, Ontario, Canada on August 5-9, 2024. Classes for ILCA 4, ILCA 6, Cub 420, 29er. Click HERE for more information.
  • The 2024 USODA Optimist Great Lakes Championships will be hosted by Bayview YC in Detroit on Aug 10-11, 2024. Opti Red/White/Blue as well as Green Fleet. Click HERE for more info.
  • The Grand Traverse Yacht Club will host the Melges 15 US National Championship on August 22-24, 2024. More information is available HERE.
